Shop Move Update: Late Summer 2007

Well, we're almost there! The building inspector has been out to visit today. He was very pleased with the work that has been undertaken. He is going back to the office to check our plans and if they are all okay we should get our completion certificate next week. We are then on track to relocate to the new premises and open at 11am on Friday 7th September, then Doug and I will be able to give a huge sigh of relief!

The shop will be closed from Sunday 2nd through till Thursday 6th September whilst all the stock is moved.

Shop Move Update: July 2006

It is now the beginning of July and the roofers from Chatham & Jackson’s have been working on the roof for six weeks. The roof should be complete by the end of July and work will begin inside. Internal floor levels need to be finalised before the windows can be fitted.Doug and Louise have tried many tester pots and have finally settled on Dulux’s Chrome Green, satin finish for the external woodwork colour. This is the closest match to the green the school was originally painted. All window frames and barge board will be Chrome Green 7 sash’s Salisbury Stone No.4 (Off white/cream).

The Jug & Bottle will be moving to The Old School on the Main Street in Bubwith.

The Jug and Bottle offers a warm and friendly service to all its customers and welcomes you to browse the shop on line or make a visit to the shop itself.

The Jug and Bottle is an Award winning independent real ale off licence located in a rural village called Bubwith, 12 miles south-east of York. The shop opened on 16th October 2002 by Louise & Doug Smith. Three years on, the shop has grown from strength to strength now employing two members of staff; Anita and Sarah (as well as Louise's parents Barbara & Terry who help out at holiday times).

The shop sells real ale and cider to take away in jugs and has a vast array of bottled beer, cider & perry from around the world as well as over 300 wines, champagnes, ports and spirits. The deli is crammed with wonderful olives, cheese, cakes, pate and homemade bread. There is also a wide range of unusual giftware and homemade cards. Louise strives to fill the shop with unusual and exciting goodies. Less than 1% of stock can be found in the Supermarkets or on the high street.
