Local retailer tackles new opportunity at rugby club festival
11 Aug 2011
Bubwith-based specialist off-licence and delicatessen, The Jug & Bottle, has landed a new contract to supply twelve ciders to Sheffield Rugby Club as part of its Annual Beer & Cider Festival.
Now in its third year the festival, which takes place from 9th-11th September, will provide the opportunity for The Jug & Bottle to showcase its high quality products to more than 800 visitors over the weekend as well as raising money for a couple of charities; Weston Park Cancer Hospital and Wooden Spoon Children's Rugby Charity.
One of the unique features of the Jug & Bottle is that its products are not found in the usual high street locations or large supermarkets. It is renowned for its range of beers and ciders, which can be served direct into customers’ own containers.
Louise Smith, owner of The Jug & Bottle, said; “This is a great opportunity for us to reach a new audience with our award-winning ciders that are not stocked in traditional outlets.”
“We have seen the impact on our sales from our own beer festival so the chance to work in partnership with Sheffield Rugby Club to promote our products was too good to miss!”
The Jug & Bottle was recently crowned the Independent Cider Retailer of the Year at the 10th anniversary of National The Drinks Retailing Awards, and this has led to an increase in demand for its ciders from across the country. For the Sheffield Beer & Cider Festival, Louise will be providing twelve ciders including the unusual Tumpy Ground cider voted Best Cider at a recent Jug & Bottle cider tasting. The Jug & Bottle is the only outlet in the North of England to supply this beautiful cider.
Organiser of the festival, Glyn Chapple, commented; “We always try to offer our visitors a variety of new products to sit alongside the tried and tested favourites. The range offered by The Jug & Bottle, and the fact that you can’t buy them anywhere else, means customers will be able to try some unique ciders. That is a real selling point for our festival and why we are delighted to be working in partnership with The Jug & Bottle.”
The Sheffield Beer & Cider Festival is being held at Abbeydale Sports Club, Dore, Sheffield from 9th to 11th September 2011. For more details please contact the Festival Organiser, Glyn Chandler 07774 695756 or visit www.pitchero.com/clubs/sheffield/events.
